With a vast array of Kickstarter games being released every week, it’s hard to sift through all the amazing titles vying for your attention.
But don’t worry, The Bear is here!
I’ll be compiling a weekly (hopefully!) list of Tabletop games that have come to Kickstarter over the previous seven days and deserve a moment of your time. These are my choices from November 14th to November 20th:
Core Space by Battle Systems Ltd
The galactic accord is crumbling and governments are struggling to maintain a hold on a populous strewn throughout the galaxy. You are in charge of a group of traders desperately trying to scrape a living while surviving the dangers of Core Space’s dystopian future.
Offering a fully modular three dimensional board-game for 1-6 players, Core Space can be played as a series of single missions or as an on-running campaign. Your team will level up as you progress through the campaign, gaining new items, plundering valuable scrap and earning credits as they continue their journey through the stars. Core Space has a variety of terrains, modular buildings and scenery that reminds me so much of Heroquest or Space Crusade that I can’t help but get excited about this tabletop game.
To get your hands on the Core Space boxed game it’ll cost you £84, which may seem a lot but there’s a hell of a lot in the box and this is well worth checking out. The campaign ends on 16th December with delivery expected November 2018
D-Day Dice by Word Forge Games
Storm the beaches of Normandy in this dice rolling co-operative game set during D-Day. Given a small squad of soldiers, you have to advance up the beach a sector at a time, avoiding the barrage of enemy fire, collecting resources and increasing the power of your squad so you can finally defeat the Nazis. It’s a wonderfully tactical game that’s easy to learn and can be played either solo or with a friend; plus it’s full of dice so I’m all in on this! D-Day Dice has won a multitude of awards and has absolutely smashed its Kickstarter goal.
The minimum pledge is set at £35 which gets you a copy of the game plus a whole load of stretch goals and with the £60 pledge offering the war stories expansion and even more stretch goals, it’ll be hard to choose which level to pledge. D-Day Dice’s campaign ends on 5th December with delivery expected September 2018
Rebels of Ravenport by Secret Weapon Games
Ravenport is being invaded by a series of vile monsters lead by the evil Overlord and it’s your job to recruit rebels, slaughter monsters and topple this maniacal mastermind… or have the most victory points – whichever happens first.
Rebels of Ravenport is a light card drafting game for two to six players that relies heavily on strategy manipulation and opportunity denial to create a tense and competitive game. It also has a nice little dice mechanic that uses the face of each die to select which character attacks so the make-up of your team is not only based on how much damage they can output but also on which face of the die activates them.
To get your hands on a copy of Rebels of Ravenport it’s going to cost you $28 with higher pledges just offering multiple copies of the game. The campaign ends on 14th December with delivery expected March 2018
Stuffed by Certifiable Studios
Stuffed is a gorgeously twisted game filled with poorly stitched bunnies and birds that represent our inner struggle and torment. Using dice you recruit a series of stuffed heroes who are there to help you lift those you’ve let down and show love to the broken. Once you’ve recruited enough plushies, you need to combine their skills to fulfil the required conditions and complete the challenge in front of you. Stuffed is incredibly simple to learn and with its wonderful aesthetic and quick playtime, it will be a perfect gateway game for the whole family.
To get your mitts on Stuffed you’ll have to pledge $23 – but if you’re a fan of avian plushies then you simply must check out the 8 different ‘birdens’. Stuffed’s campaign ends on 13th December with delivery expected August 2018
If there are any other board games you think I should check out or a Kickstarter campaign I missed, head over to the contact section and leave me a message.
